Presumably, the accident with subsequent fire ignition in the boiler room of Power Unit No. 3 of Berezovskaya GRES was caused by the fuel oil pipeline loss of sealing. The fire was discovered on 1 February at 7.41 am. The main point of the fire outbreak was controlled by 10 am due to the efforts of the facility fire brigade Sirena Emergency Response Service with engagement of the firefighters from the town of Sharypovo, Dubinino Settlement and the town of Nazarovo (110 staff members in total).
There were no victims or injured. The exceedance of the maximum allowed limits of the emission standard for the harmful substances was not registered.
After the Power Unit was cooled down, the specialists started a primary inspection of the damage. Deformation of the roof elements in the cell of the boiler room with the total area of 300 sq. m was found. No collapses of the roof were discovered. The fire area was fenced, no access of the personnel is allowed. The full scope of the damage will be determined upon a thorough inspection and fault detection of the boiler elements.
Due to the accident, Power Unit No. 3 of E.ON Russia Berezovskaya GRES was removed out of service for unscheduled repairs. Power Units No. 1 and No. 2 operate according to their normal schedule. The heat contour of the main building of the power plant is undamaged, there is no threat of any restrictions on the heat and power supply.
An inter-department task force for rectification of the consequences and determination of the fire causes is working at the power plant.
