Over 9M 2020, Unipro PJSC power plants generated 30.7 bln kWh, 9,6% less than over the same period of 2019.
The decrease in electric power generation was due to a lower utilization of Unipro PJSC power plants by the System Operator due to low demand for electric power caused by the impact of an unusually warm weather in 1Q 2020, high hydro generation in both price zones in 1H 2020, new coronavirus disease pandemic, and OPEC+ deal to cut oil production.
Following a 14.1% decline in generation in the first half of the current year as compared to the exceptional results for the same period of 2019, electric power generation rose in 3Q 2020 by 4.0% year-on-year. This was due to changes in the CCGT repair schedule, and hence, heavier utilization thereof in the summer period: in 3Q 2020, the master repair periods for Shaturskaya GRES and Yaivinskaya GRES CCGT units were shorter than in 3Q 2019, and Surgutskaya GRES-2 CCGT units will not be subjected to master repairs until 4Q 2020.
The output of heat power amounted to 1154.2 thous Gcal. A 14.4% decline as compared to 2019 is due to weather conditions.
