Smolenskaya GRES Proceeding with Its Maintenance Campaign

Unipro PJSC Smolenskaya GRES Branch has taken down Power Unit No. 2 for intermediate maintenance. The turbine unit will be subjected to standard works involving the inspection of the bearings and repair of the control and steam distribution system. In addition, the high-pressure cylinder cam control gear is supposed to be modernised. T

hese activities provide for the installation of sleeve-type bearings based on metal-fluoroplastic tape (MFT), which will improve the reliability of the turbine unit. The works on the auxiliary turbine equipment will involve pump equipment and valve repairs along with metal testing. To repair the air inflows, the vestibule pavilion roof is supposed to be repaired in Building 2B boiler house. The specialists will replace 12T of roof metal panels and restore the vestibule lining.

The maintenance campaign provides for dismantling and installing 1.7T of pipes on the right-side screen in Building 2A boiler furnace. In addition, the electric motor of DV-2A blow fan will be subjected to overhaul involving replacement of stator winding for winding protected with advanced thermal endurance class insulation. The electric motor weighing around 16T has been shipped to the factory for maintenance.

All maintenance works at Power Unit No. 2 are scheduled to be completed by 30 September 2021.
