Power unit No.1 modernization was completed at Berezovskaya GRES

Power unit No.1 modernization was completed at Berezovskaya GRES branch of E.ON. Russia JSC. Due to the technical upgrading the capacity increased by 50 MW and reached the design value of 800 MW.

In order to eliminate capacity constraints, the boiler heating surface cleaning system of power unit No.1 was modernized. In particular, 72 furnace soot blowers were replaced with modern and more powerful units manufactured in Germany. 16 additional soot blowers were installed in boiler convection passes, the pulverized-coal system was modernized. It allowed minimizing boiler heating surface clinkering and increasing its capacity up to 50 MW.

The power unit will reach the maximum capacity by the end of September. Following the comprehension test results, documents for official remarking of the unit from 750 to 800 MW will be prepared. A decision on remarking may be taken by the System operator in October-November.
Increase in the certified capacity of Berezovskaya GRES (subject to payment at the Wholesale Electricity and Capacity Market) is expected starting from January 01, 2012.

Modernization costs for power unit No.1 of Berezovskaya GRES in 2011 will exceed 140 mln. roubles.
