On July 13, 2006, a delegation of Generation Company Four of the Wholesale Market of Power and Energy (WGC-4), headed by Director General of the Company Andrey Kitashev, visited Leningrad Metal Works (LMZ), which is part of Power Machines. On the part of LMZ, the meeting participants included Technical Director Valery Kondratyev and Senior Designer for Gas Turbines Aleksandr Lebedev. The parties discussed the possibilities for cooperation between both companies under the implementation of the WGC-4 Investment Program, according to which it is planned to construct new generating facilities on the basis of modern combine-cycle technology.
During the visit, the delegation of WGC-4 was familiarized with the LMZ production of gas turbine equipment. The Company's Management was especially interested in the gas turbine assembly shop where the advanced technology of Siemens is applied.
Let us remind that on March 28, 2006, RAO UES of Russia approved a list of top priority sites for the commissioning of generating facilities in the Unified Energy System of Russia. That list included two investment projects of WGC-4: combined cycle power units at Surgutskaya TPP-2 (capacity: 800 MW) and Shaturskaya TPP-2 (400 MW) to be commissioned in 2008-2009. The implementation of these investment projects costs more than 30 billion rubles. It is planned to finance the construction from, among other sources, an additional issue of WGC-4 shares.
