Smolenskaya GRES Branch of Unipro PJSC has received operational readiness certificate for the 2016-2017 autumn-winter season. The document certifies that the power plant is ready for reliable operation under increased load conditions associated with lower temperatures.
The regional commission set up to assess Smolenskaya GRES operational readiness for the winter season (WS) was composed of representatives of Smolensk RDO, Rostechnadzor Central Department, Smolensk Region Directorate of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations and Smolenskaya GRES specialists and operated over the course of three days.
The commission confirmed that the works on getting Smolenskaya GRES ready for autumn-winter were performed in full, all the scheduled events were completed, most of them involving repairs of main and auxiliary power generating equipment, heat networks, preparation of industrial buildings and facilities. The necessary stocks of back-up fuel, materials and equipment were created.
Emergency and fire response training was administered to all the power plant employees in the presence of the members of the commission. Operating staff was given training in response to emergencies with equipment. Fire teams were mobilised to suppress the simulated fire.
Smolenskaya GRES Branch of Unipro PJSC was certified as fully operationally ready for the 2016-2017 autumn-winter season.
