Unipro PJSC obtained the Certificate of Compliance of the Company’s Environmental Management System

Unipro PJSC obtained the Certificate of Conformity of the Company’s Environmental Management System (EMS) to the requirements of the updated version of ISO 14001:2015 international standard as they regard electric and heat power generation and heat power transportation valid through 13 December 2022.

The certification was conducted by a group of independent auditors of the Russian Register Certification Association accredited by international certification authorities – members of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).

The auditors analyzed the operation of the functions of all Unipro PJSC branches and Moscow Representative Office in the following areas: complying with the requirements of the environmental legislation of the Russian Federation, factoring the context (external environment) of the entity in its activities, assessing environmental risks and developing the program of environmental risk management, management’s commitment, planning and scheduling, analysis by the management, ongoing improvement, quality of internal environmental audits, managing claims, complaints, directives of the regulatory authorities, achieving environmental goals and ensuring their relevance.

The auditors took note of the EMS strengths attesting to ongoing improvements in Unipro business processes. In particular, the Company implements preparatory activities for switching over to the best available technology (BAT). For instance, in mid-December 2019, the Company will hold a business game on environmental impact assessment with involvement of the BAT Bureau (Environmental Industrial Policy Centre). Besides, the schedule provides for the defense by environmental specialists of their research papers on the environmental and economic feasibility of implementing the applicable BAT. In fall 2019, in cooperation with the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Moscow, Unipro organized awareness building activities on waste sorting in 28 general education schools in Moscow under project: Do Not Waste the Air.
