Shaturskaya GRES Branch Power Unit No. 4 Taken Down for Overhaul

Unipro PJSC Shaturskaya GRES Branch is subjecting Power Unit No. 4 with a capacity of 210MW to overhaul as scheduled. Power Unit No. 4 was commissioned in 1978. Its running time over 43 years amounts to 231,614 hours. The maintenance campaign is supposed to include an overhaul of the turbine involving the replacement of the nozzle diaphragm and wire band at stage 23.

The power engineers are performing works on the boiler furnace walls and boiler forced-draft mechanisms involving the replacement of the bearings on the assemblies. In addition, there are plans to replace 17 steam duct bends from CSH-3 (convection superheater) to the steam collection chamber. The overhaul will further touch upon the generator of Power Unit No. 4. It will be subjected to the replacement of the stator winding end leads and comprehensive diagnostic testing.

This summer, the power engineers are planning to subject the deaerator, condensate disposal pipes from high pressure heaters, feeder pipeline, and live steam pipeline to industrial safety expert review. To date, 180 maintenance employees are involved in the overhaul of Power Unit No. 4 with more than a half of them being power engineers of Shaturskaya GRES. The works are performed as scheduled and are intended to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the equipment for the 2021–2022 winter season load.
