Berezovskaya GRES will continue its efforts in vocational guidance for high school students within the framework of the Career Starts at School project

The Berezovskaya GRES Branch of Unipro PJSC, the Thermal Power Plants Department of the Siberian Federal University, and School No. 8 in Sharypovo (the Krasnoyarsk Territory) will continue to prepare high school students for the choice of energy-related professions. The parties extended their collaboration agreement for the implementation of the social and charitable Career Starts at School project.

The project, which has been implemented at School No. 8 in Sharypovo for the tenth year already, is aimed at attracting schoolchildren to engineering professions and promoting the power engineer position. For this, the Thermal Power Plants Department of the Siberian Federal University has developed an optional course for high school students called “Introduction to the Power Industry”.

The school premises of specialized classes have been repaired, children have been provided with laptops and modern educational equipment for in-depth study of mathematics, computer science, and physics, at the expense of the Berezovskaya GRES branch. During the academic year, teachers from the Polytechnic Institute of the Siberian Federal University conduct lessons with the children, and the students master their theoretical knowledge in practice, observing the operation of the power plant equipment during plant excursions.

For ten years, about 200 young specialists have graduated from the energy classes. 36 of them were awarded with medals. The average score of the energy class graduates in mathematics, physics, computer science is higher than the average for the Krasnoyarsk Territory. 90% of them are admitted to engineering and technical departments, including every third graduate, on average, choosing power engineering professions.
