Unipro’s Berezovskaya GRES annually takes environment protection measures to reduce the negative impact of the plant on the environment. In 2021, about ₽56 million was spent on this.
As agreed with the Yenisei Territorial Administration of the Russian Federal Fisheries Agency, the plant purchased and let out into the Yenisei River about 3,000 sterlet fries weighing more than 7g each.
The Branch organizes corporate environment protection days as well. For instance, the plant employees cleaned the water safeguard zone and collected about 10 cubic metre of litter. A tour of Berezovskaya GRES was held for energy class students from school No. 8 where they were told about the fundamentals of environment safety.
In addition, the sludge collector at Berezovskaya GRES which was located in the water safeguard zone of Bereshsky Reservoir, was removed subject to all applicable requirements of statutes and regulations.
Last March, Unipro passed an independent verification of greenhouse gas emission calculations for 2021.
The chemical laboratory of BGRES and the laboratory of the Hygiene and Epidemiology Centre test the quality of waste, surface and ground water (Bereshsky Reservoir, Beresh, Kadat, Bazyr rivers). The data obtained proves that the water quality meets the standards. The basic values of atmospheric emissions in the sanitary safeguard zone do not exceed the required limits.
All environment monitoring results are checked by departments of Rospotrebnadzor and Rosprirodnadzor for the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
