The Management Board of Generation Company Four of the Wholesale Market of Power and Energy (OGK-4) has approved the 2007-2009 Program for Implementation of the OGK-4 Environmental Policy. In February 2007, this document is to be submitted for approval to the OGK-4 Board of Directors.
A sum of 537.7 million rubles has been earmarked for the implementation of the 2007-2009 Program, including 114.3 million rubles allocated for 2007. At its power plants, to reduce the negative environmental impact, the Company plans to take measures related to air, water, and land pollution control, as well as waste utilization. In addition, external environmental audits are to be performed in 2007 at each of the Company's five thermal power plants.
The OGK-4 Environmental Policy, approved by the Company's Board of Directors on April 14, 2006, was developed in accordance with the RAO UES Strategy for Environmental Safety and Rational Utilization of Natural Resources, the Environmental Doctrine of the Russian Federation, and with due account for opinions of leading environmental public organizations. The Environmental Policy of the Company provides for implementation of a package of measures related to air protection, reduction of polluting emissions, rational utilization water and land resources on TPP sites, and participation in the environmental projects developed by RAO UES of Russia.
