E.ON Russia obtained the Certificate of compliance of the company environmental management system with the requirements of ISO 14001:2004 international standard in the electric and heat power generation. Certification was conducted by the group of independent auditors of Russian Register Certification Association that was accredited by international certification authorities, members of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).
Voluntary certification indicates that the company applies the environmental risk management system that includes prevention of environmental pollution, emission control, and compliance with the legal, regulatory and other requirements for environmental protection, continuous improvement of environmental performance in accordance with strict international requirements.
In 2013, environmental audits were performed at all power plants of E.ON Russia. Three company branches - Surgutskaya GRES-2, Berezovskaya GRES and Heat Networks of Berezovskaya GRES, as well as the Moscow Representative Office selectively participated in the certification audit in accordance with IAF MD1:2007 standard. Personnel knowledge of the environmental policy requirements, environmental aspects of power plants operation, understanding of each employee role in the environmental management system were audited.
Within preparation for certification, the company developed and approved the Environmental Policy that includes measures for environmental protection in case of introduction of new technologies, equipment procurement and production modernization. Environmental issues are taken into account when approving the annual work plans of all company organization units.
Over the past three years, as a result of commissioning of new power units, the company managed to reduce the emission of main pollutants four times.
